Is it possible to recuperate data/pictures from the hard disc?
I had to reinstall the recovery cd’s after my PC crashed. I’d really love to get what I had not saved on cds back!
If the files aren’t there, you might be able to recover them with PhotoRec. (If you used repair disks, the files should still be there. If you reinstalled Windows, it depends on how you answered the Format question. If you full formatted, the files are gone. If not, PR should find most of them.) You’ll need an external drive. The file types will be correct, but the names (since they’re gone) will be meaningless – you’ll have to look at each file to determine what it is. The sooner you use it, the better the chances that a file isn’t overwritten by a program you’re running.
PhotoRec is free, it’s forensic strength (the kind of fiction you see on TV – but this is real) and it’s completely safe. If you want to know why you can get software like this, and for free, the story’s on the site.
iolo system Mechanic has recover software you can pick this up at walmart .
