How to recover data in damaged HDD?
I have new HDD. Only 4 months ago when I bought Seagate Barracuda 7200.11. Suddenly it can’t boot up. It says "Disk read error". Before it happens, the HDD made squeaky noise, not often, but unusual, and took unusually longer time to read/write or access than normally it does. Then I used SeaTools software to check it for errors. It returned "write cache failed to write file X to disk".
I suspect that the motor doesn’t run. If it indeed doesn’t rotate, is it possible to recover the data? Is there any cheap data recovery services in South East Asia area?
Is it possible to make it back to spin? Because, spending thousands of dollars is not that worth it.
If the drive is physically not spinning, you can send your drive to a data recovery service, it will cost hundreds or thousands of dollars depending on what the problem is.
If you are going to send it out for recovery, the less fooling around with software you do with the drive on your own, the better.
